What's the Fred app all about? Get it from the horse's mouth, with the team behind Friends of Mr Ed, Amy Thompson and Rich Busso.
As they prepare to launch the new Fred app for racing owners into the marketplace, founders and creators Amy & Rich sat down with host Belinda Meyers to tell us about their new 'baby'.
Rich: “I love connecting with other owners, sharing the pre-excitement, the thrill of the race then the post race excitement or commiserations. We created Fred because we didn’t feel connected to the other owners. We went on track, met some of them, created WhatsApp groups and now we’ve got friends for life. So the app is about that connection, that friendship. We really want to make it a place where all the owners come into the platform, they talk to the other owners, they look at their horses and they potentially buy new shares …and we make it the new carsales.com.au for racehorses”.
As passionate horse owners, they had a vision for a more engaging, personalised and easy experience as a racehorse owner. Enter: Fred - the social app where racehorse owners and lovers of the sport can connect and share the thrill of ownership on and off the track.
Amy: “It is difficult to keep up on email updates with 10 horses. The thing that’s frustrating when I cant get to the track is it can take hours or days till I get the jokey report to find out why horse came 4th. If you’ve got a fellow owner who can make the track then they can take that pre and post jockey report and share that information through our chat functionality. What we are trying to do is democratise that information sharing between owners through our chat functionality. This is all about owners taking control and not being so reliant on one way push notifications or emails from trainers.”
